Competition, Collaboration, and Optimization in Multiple Interacting Spreading Processes

چکیده
Competition and collaboration are at the heart of multi-agent probabilistic spreading processes. The battle on public opinion competitive marketing campaigns typical examples former, while joint spread multiple diseases such as HIV tuberculosis demonstrates latter. These spreads influenced by underlying network topology, infection rates between constituents, recovery and, equally importantly, interactions processes themselves. Here, for first time we derive dynamic message-passing equations that provide an exact description dynamics two interacting tree graphs, develop systematic low-complexity models predict general graphs. We also a theoretical framework optimal control through optimized resource allocation under budget constraints within finite window. Derived algorithms can be used to maximize desired in presence rival process, limit vaccination case coupled infectious diseases. demonstrate efficacy optimization method both synthetic real-world networks.

Collaboration and competition are increasing both within and between research organizations, leading to new questions for research management and science policy. Increasing collaboration is reflected by a growing average number of coauthors in all fields (Hicks and Katz, 1996; Wuchty et al., 2007). Sometimes this is seen as a perverse effect of extremely stretched competition, and not so much a...
متن کاملSpatial competition and collaboration networks
In this paper, we discuss the formation of collaboration networks among rms that are located in a circular city. The model is a two-stage game. In the rst stage, rms form collaboration links, and in the second stage the rms engage in price competition. The model in the second stage is a generalization of Salops (1979) model. We examine pairwise stability of networks and a stochastic networ...
متن کاملCollaboration and Competition in Exoplanet Research
Collaboration and competition are strong driving forces in the modem search for exoplanets. It appears among individuals, agencies and nations, as well as between observing techniques and theoretical interpretation. I will argue that these forces, taken in balance, are beneficial to the field and are partly responsible for the rapid progress in the search for planets and ultimately the search f...
